Hands-on experience for a life-long calling.
New Harbor is excited to pioneer two internship pathways for those seeking to explore various vocations as part of the Church. Whether feeling led to pursue pastorship or looking to utilize one’s abilities and talents in ministry and system capacities, the internship programs offer a structured program designed to simultaneously train practical skills and provide support for personal growth.
Church Internships include ministry, administration, systems, tech, and design positions. Requirements, length of the internship, and descriptions vary by position. Open positions will be listed soon.
Pastoral Internships last 3-5 years and offer both a Pastor and a Church Planting track. There is a heavy emphasis on mentorship, developing leadership abilities, and personal and spiritual growth. Learn more about the program.
Both of these opportunities allow for self-discovery, seeking to serve God while exploring His calling for one’s life.
What are previous interns saying about working at New Harbor?
Hannah Banducci
Words are not enough to describe how wonderful it has been working for New Harbor Community Church, in the almost two years since working for them, I have learned so much. I was able to explore and learn so many new things and because of the opportunities I was given I got to expand my own interests. I also got to come along side an absolutely amazing group of people and be a part of an awesome team! I will forever be grateful for all that I was able to do at New Harbor, thank you New Harbor for the incredible opportunity!
Church Internships
God has given all of His people unique gifts and abilities to be used to bless other and to build His kingdom. While all are to serve in the Church, some are called to work within it. The journey of discovering how to use your gifts, inside or outside of the context of Church can be a difficult task.
It is because of this that we have developed Church Internships.
Cultivate your gifts and talents through our Church Internship opportunities. We provide a structured program that is designed to further your skills and abilities, deepen your understanding of and relationship with God, and support your personal development and self-awareness.

Pastoral Internships
Our pastoral internships will help you learn, grow, and love Jesus more. Built to train up pastors to leadership in the Church we will help individuals to learn, shepherd, and lead. Some will find their home with us, some will help existent churches, and some will plant new churches. There is a great need for healthy and well-trained pastors in the church. Being a part of our pastoral internship will give you the opportunity to discover if this is the direction He has for you.
These internships have a yearly review, in which your ability to continue is evaluated. The minimum amount of time for this process is 3 years with a maximum of 5 years. Our requirements may very by type of internship and will be discussed individually.
“The church is the sole institution under Heaven that has been ordained for the salvation of souls. It is also the sole institution under Heaven in which the devil takes a particular interest in utterly destroying. Because of this, the leaders in the church need to be best equipped for the job, taking time to prepare their hearts, minds, and abilities for the journey ahead. Traditional education is a great source to learn information but often lacks one-on-one, personalized learning about oneself. Knowing one’s calling, strengths, inclinations, and leadership style is a vital key in establishing a fruitful ministry life.”
-Kelly Patchin, Lead Pastor

Pastoral Internships Requirements
Pastoral internships require a teachable heart, a sacrificial lifestyle, and a deep love for people. Ultimately every pastor is an undershepherd to Jesus who is the great shepherd. The process will require a commitment to following a pastor’s direction in your life that will help you to discover if pastoring is what God has called you to. Each year you will be evaluated and encouraged in the direction God is calling you. This is a clinical approach to ministry and will have both educational and practical requirements based on each year’s progress. You must be at least 20 years old to engage in the internship.
